A cute absurd comic – like its contemporary Pokey the Penguin.įleep – re-purposed from an alt newspaper run to Modern Tales. Lost at this point as its URL is now an ad site and there’s no google lead to a new URL.īueno the Bear.
Movie Comics – sort of a Penny Arcade for movies. I think this has to be on the list, doesn’t it? Very good and early recognition from the Eisners for a webcomic. It was a very good fit to the serialized format. I love Narbonic and it had a very successful run. I did find a new URL for it b/c it’s old one was dead. Straub also did Modern Humor Authority (also very meta) and since has gone on to make Starslip Crisis. There might be an argument there – the relentless meta of it and its ongoing webcomic community critique. Still - very funny even on re-read.Ĭheckerboard Nightmare by Kris Straub. I really like this one but I have a hard time right now imaging it being one for the ages. I’ll be hitting it issue by issue.īite Me by Dylan Meconis. So I’m actually going to look through the comics we’ve reviewed to see how they’ve held up over time.
SugarShock! by Josh Whedon and Fabio Moon. PX! by Manny Trembly and Eric Anderson,ģ3. Understanding The Process by Joe Infurnari,ģ1. The Abominable Charles Christopher by Karl Kerschl,ģ0. This is just a DRAFT LIST (I’m adding suggestions as they come in)ġ2. They are absolutely not in any particular order… Feel free to comment and argue with me in the thread below. I’m going to use this post to update a sort of "draft" list – adding and deleting as I do research and/or get input from folks. To do so though of course I’m going to need a lot of help from everyone to sort out candidates for the list and helpful arguments for and against the why of including various comics. I want to try and craft a "100 Greatest Webcomics" list. One of the articles I’ve got on my radar screen to write for this year is something like the AFI 100 Greatest Films list. NOTE: An updated version of this list is here – please go there to offer your suggestions and comments.
